Angry? No! God Is Not Angry With You.

 Part 1

Jesus said......“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”...... Matthew 11 vs 28-30

The ways of God are very simple and easy as you would have read in the text. God is not complicated neither are His ways. Jesus came to show you and I how to walk with God in the fullness of His love for us. And if you read or study the bible you cannot but notice the drama between Jesus and the Pharisees, who make God out as angry and terrible with the way they carry on.

And it is no little wonder that He drove these Pharisees crazy. I can imagine Him laughing His head off inside of Him each time He ticked off the Pharisees over something He did or said. Like bears after honey, they followed Him every where He went, asking Him questions, waiting for Him to slip up or sometime watching Him to do something to accuse Him of to destroy Him.

They tried every bait possible but could not get Him; until Judas helped them fulfilled their lifelong dream of killing Him. Every antic they tried till then failed. You see, the Pharisees are very pious and sanctimonious and they expect everyone who wants to associate himself or herself with anything and everything God to be like them, wearing long face, being grumpy, always disgruntled, showing off piety and keeping the rules of which the most important is “thou shall not associate with sinners!”. Sinners do not stand a chance around the Pharisees.

As far as the Pharisees are concerned, sinners are without hope even with God!

There is this story of a woman caught in the very act of adultery..... John 8 vs1-12. This woman who was supposedly caught in the very act of adultery was brought to Jesus for verdict without dragging along with her the man. It takes two to commit adultery it is no rocket science.

So.... the man was smart and he escaped but the woman was foolish and she was caught and dragged shamefully, almost naked through the streets and roads till they got her to Jesus. The Pharisees do not offer pardon for sins, they judge sin as the law demands.

The word Mercy is not part of their teaching. Jesus saw their craftiness and knew that they are two face persons, evil on the inside and pious on the outside, using the laws of God to inflict the pains of judgement on the people.

Jesus could see through them and they did not know it! The truth is they are as guilty as the woman but because they sin in secret, they assume no one knows but God. Unfortunately for them, Jesus is God and because He knew they are without sin, He asked “he amongst them that is without sin to cast the first stone at the adulteress “ I am so sure the crowd that followed them to the temple and the ones at the temple were expecting a torrent of stones to rain on the woman but, there was not as little as a pebble thrown at her.

Each one of the pious git, dropped their stones starting from the oldest to the youngest of them. Amazing!!! They shot themselves in the foot, they were exposed in broad day light, they too are sinners after all! They could not stone the woman, there sins caught up with them in the open. No matter how religious you think you are, you always fall short. You never seem to meet God’s standard, you are hard on yourself and each time you realise you are not meeting God’s expectation, you unleashed on your self the terror of condemnation.

But you know what, God is not even mad at you neither is He angry with you! God loves you! Every anger God has toward you was vented on Jesus when He took upon Himself your sins and condemnation on the cross. Your pains are needless, your worries are futile, religion will lead you nowhere! Jesus paid the price!
