Power Of Believing 1

There is nothing you cannot make happen when you believe. The ability to believe has always been on the inside of every man and as you know, God made us all in His own image and likeness as it is written in the book of

Genesis 1vs 26-27. Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

To be made in the image and likeness of God, means we have God’s abilities and power within us. This may not be so according to Islam but this is what we are taught as Christians. We are made to understand that God resides in us and that He has endowed us with His might and power. We are also taught that God, is a God who believes. He is a believing God, He believes in Himself and in the words He speaks. When God says something, He believes without a shadow of doubt that whatsoever He has said will definitely come to pass. The book of Isaiah 55vs 10-11 say

“For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven,

And do not return there,

But water the earth,

And make it bring forth and bud,

That it may give seed to the sower

And bread to the eater,

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;

It shall not return to Me void,

But it shall accomplish what I please,

And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

God holds His Word in high esteem because His word is full of power with which all things are accomplished. God believes, and that is truth! Whatever God sets out to do, He accomplishes not just because He is God but because He believes. That is why He made you and I with the ability to believe; I want you to always remember this God is a believing God. God believes in every man, even when men do not believe in themselves, He gives them His total support and His word to rely on, to work with. God does this because He believes in the power of His spoken word and also in His written word.

Take for example, the story of Moses in the book Exodus, the bible says, God met with Moses as he tending the sheep of his father in law Jethro, on Mount Sinai. God attracted Moses with a burning bush that was engulfed in fire but was not burning. The awesome sight caught his attention and when God saw that Moses was attracted, God began to speak to Moses; and Exodus 3 from verse 9 God began to tell Moses about the mission He had for him to accomplish……

“Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel has come to Me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come now, therefore, and I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring My people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”11 But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”

God sent him to deliver the children of Israel out of bondage in Egypt, but Moses did not believe himself, he could not see himself carrying out such task, Moses gave God different excuses to disqualify himself but God insisted on him doing the job. God encouraged him, assured him and promised to back him up. Moses eventually accepted and went back to Egypt to do as God asked of him. Moses did well, he became bold on the job as he began to see God come through for him before the eyes of the Egyptians, especially before pharaoh the king of the Egyptians. Moses also began to believe in God and in God’s might. He became very bold, and his ability to believe God and God’s Word also strengthened. The more he believed the more he saw the power of God being made manifested.

If you also remember Abraham in the book of Genesis 22 from 1 the bible says…….

Now it came to pass after these things that God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here I am.”Then He said, “Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you. ”So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him. Then on the third day Abraham lifted his eyes and saw the place afar off.

Abraham did as God told him, he took his son Isaac and headed for the place that God told him to go and sacrifice his son. He did not argue with God because Abraham believed that even if he sacrificed his son Isaac as God instructed him to, God is able to raise him back from the dead. Abraham did not doubt the power of God, he knew that God is the Almighty and that God can do anything.

If you knew about the story of Abraham and God, you will understand why he believed that God is able to raise Isaac from the dead, even if he really had to sacrifice him. Abraham gave birth to Isaac when he was a hundred years old and his wife Sarah was ninety nine years old. The bibles say that Sarah’s womb was dead, apart from being very old. I can tell you this, that if it were today, in this present age of ours, these two people stand no chance of ever having a child. Medical science would have written them off, they were medically old to be parents. However, they were not old or too old for God’s divine intervention, let alone being considered a case too impossible to work out in the sight of God Almighty.

From when God, knocked off the socks of Abraham by giving Sarah a son in both their old age, Abraham could believe God much more. The power of believing is very dynamic, it is the starting point for the manifestation of miracles. Do not only believe in God’s might, believe also in God Himself. Don’t just believe God for the things He can do, believe in God for who He is. God is Almighty, He is great, He is awesome, glorious and faithful. God is also very helpful. He is more than willing to help you, in fact, much more than you can imagine.

When you believe, you will experience the supernatural, the move of God and, the faithfulness of God. Sicknesses and the diseases will become powerless over your life, when you activate your ability to believe, with the help of God you will see the impossible become possible. God does not want you to be sick, God wants you well! In the second part of this write up I will touch on...... How To Believe.

My friend, God sees your pain and trust me He is not happy about your state. In as much as God can do anything and everything, do not forget that He is also not a magician. God does not wave wands and does not chant. He works with your trust, your hope, your faith and your ability to believe. God loves you and He has not forgotten you. Keep your faith alive.
